growing Strategically with Excellence
The Growing Strategically Model is a systematic approach to cultivating a strategic thinking environment within your organization. The model and methodology emphasize the importance of establishing a clear framework for decision-making and prioritization over a three-year strategic planning cycle. This model is defined by three core components: (1) Defining the strategic context, (2) identifying organizational priorities, and (3) aligning management planning with these objectives.
Annual management planning is considered to be the execution phase of this model, which is used to successfully achieve the defined priorities. This annual plan encourages the organization to be agile and responsive to changing circumstances while staying focused on its long-term goals.
Through decades of experience across diverse sectors—ranging from international mining to global nonprofit organizations and finishing in higher education—John has developed and refined this process, making it adaptable for most contexts. His expertise ensures that the Growing Strategically Model is theoretically sound and practical for real-world implementation, empowering organizations to thrive in increasingly complex environments.

Growing Excellent Managers
Enterprises need to have excellent leaders, excellent strategies, and excellent boards. However, they also require individuals who are able to manage people, processes, and priorities in achieving the enterprises’s annual goals. To manage people and priorities, John has identified four key management practices: Planning, Organization, Execution, and Metrics (accountability), which is expounded in John’s book Excellence in Management (available on Amazon). Specifically for management processes is the newly developed Excellence in Management model with a specific focus on Purpose, People, Priorities, and Process impact on organizational efficiency.
